Check out these awesome 4th graders who got an in class field trip with the Mystic Seaport. Today our students walked through a hands on exploration of our state, state symbols and the flag. This field trip was to kick off their Regions Magnet Project which will explore the entire US! We are so excited to have our visitors and thank them for coming in today!!!








Ross Woodward Classical Studies Magnet School Walk-a-thon
Who: All Pre-K through 8 students and school staff
What: School-Wide Walk-A-Thon
When: Wednesday, October 8th, 2025 (Rain Date October 10th, 2025)
Where: We will be walking two laps around our school property.
Why: * To promote the development of healthy minds and bodies
* To promote Positive Behavior Intervention and Support in Order to
maintain and grow a safe environment conducive to learning
* To raise money for the purchase of our school’s HEART recognition
awards for our students.
Due Date: Money and permission slips need to be handed in to classroom teachers
No later Wednesday, October 1st 2025. We are accepting CASH ONLY.
Students and Faculty have been challenged to find 12 family, friends, or neighbors to sponsor them to walk ($1 each—see sponsor page).
Each Student who raises $12 will be invited to a movie and popcorn party.
Students who raise $20 or more and demonstrate appropriate school behavior will earn an outside ice cream social and recess time.
The student and staff member that raises the MOST money in each building will earn four movie passes (Rave Cinema in North Haven) for the student and a restaurant certificate for the staff member. IT COULD BE YOU!!
ALL STUDENTS MUST RETURN THE ATTACHED PERMISSION SLIP IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE ON OUR WALK!! Please help raise money---every dollar helps us help the kids!

What is a School Based Health Center?
The NEWLY RENOVATED SBHC is a health center located in Ross/Woodward and offers ENROLLED students confidential primary and urgent health care and health education at NO COST to the student or family.
ENROLLED students can receive care such as: flu shots or immunizations, annual physical exams, treatment or medication when they are sick or hurt at school, clearance to return to school after being sick, and access to behavioral health invention services. All services are offered in the SBHC which is a safe, nurturing, and familiar place during their school day.
Medical: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:30 - 3:30
Behavioral Health: Tuesday, Thursday, 9:00 - 3:25

NEW HAVEN COUNTS - Grades 3 to 5th Math Tutoring
New Haven Counts is an afterschool math tutoring program. We will be starting the program in a few weeks. September 25th is the tentative first day of tutoring. The program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 pm to 5:45 pm in the library and gym. Students will receive 1 hour of tutoring and 1 hour of sports (soccer) during this time. During the spring, the students participate in a soccer game where they compete against other schools that are apart of the NEW HAVEN COUNTS program. Permission slips will come home from teachers. If you would like your student to benefit from this program please sign and return the permission slip.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO LATE BUS TO TAKE THEM HOME. PARENTS WILL HAVE TO PICK THEIR CHILD UP AT 6:00 PM.
All levels of learners are invited. However, they can be dropped if their behavior becomes a problem.
Please return any signed permission slips to me (Room B-205) or place in my mailbox (LISA FINCH/ GRADE 6).
